In addition to also being a 2019 Common Sense Media teen council member, Jake is the founder and co-Director of The SASHA (Students Against Sexual Harassment & Assault) Initiative which is a youth-led activist organization dedicated to ensuring that young people and members of marginalized communities are at the forefront of the social. Come meet Casco author Emily Coye for a reading of her picture book, Thumbs Up For All, and a fun craft activity!
This story, based on a Maine lobster, will bring children on a journey through the eyes of a creature unlike the rest. This lobster will always be giving a thumbs up, therefore sharing his positive outlook on life everywhere he goes. Throughout this story he learns to embrace difference by finding his inner courage, while teaching others to do the same. THUMBS UP FOR ALL!

A Summer Writing Workshop
Come join others interested in the self expression that holds our lives and legacies. This workshop will give us the gift of time to write together using techniques that stimulate memory, enhance creativity and provide positive feedback. Here we will listen with respect to ourselves and others for the stories, poems, essays, letters that wait within for an invitation to be written and shared. Please bring something to write on and with and a sense of exploration. All potential and seasoned writers welcome!
Our facilitator is longtime patron, Mary Winsky.
Mary is a writer and former English teacher, staff developer and change agent. She has taught composition and literature at high school, college and graduate levels and led writing workshops for adults locally and nationally. This is her 27th summer in Casco.
